Why Do The Same People Who Hate “Free Market” Regulations Try To Regulate The Movement Of Skilled Workers? Isn’t That A Contradiction?

Yes, it is a contradiction, but a valid one. Similar to other ones: for life to evolve, we must die.

Or, on a more poignant note in this context: for freedom to flourish, one must deploy paradoxical rules. The point being that free-markets can only flourish when a preemptive playbook of rules is established. Or otherwise, the trust in any marketplace will be eroded by a free-for-all turned sour by the pillage-and-plunder of a few.

Hence you can debate the validity of the paradox applied to either, without inferring to be against freedom.
