How Does Consumer Spending Drive The Economy?

Well, it doesn’t necessarily. But those of us who think they can measure the quality of a game of soccer by counting the goals scored will make you believe you can measure an economy by counting GDP. Not everything that can be counted can be counted on.

Our religion of economics steeped in false truisms is like driving a car made for the road onto the beach, a clearly different terrain. Wheels still spinning, but the speed is no longer in correlation with the engine’s rpm. The car’s rpm being the GDP so holy to economics, yet without understanding the terrain becomes a nebulous indicator.

We have made a fundamental mistake in economics to confound consequence and cause. And much of the depravity of reason in economics stems from such confounding.

Hence We Must Reinvent Economics for it to become a more reliable proxy of foresight.

Let’s lead the world by example with new rigors of excellence we first and successfully apply to ourselves.
